We are thrilled to announce that Gary Watson, Country Manager from Keppel Data Center REIT Ireland will be joining Touchdown Middle East 2024 as a speaker! Gary will feature on our panels ‘Navigating the greener path: Are we reaching our sustainability goals?’ and ‘Looking Out: A perspective from international owners and operators’ taking place on Day 1 of the conference, 26th November at 15:40 and Day 2 of the conference, 27th November at 12:25, respectively.
The first panel will look at the pressures the data centre industry is under over its significant energy usage. As AI, cloud, and data consumption grow, sustainability goals are being challenged – this panel explores what the GCC data centre industry is doing to combat its environmental impact.
The second panel will provide an outlook on the GCC data centre market today from an international players perspective; looking at their ambitions in the region, reasons for entering the market, and what challenges and opportunities outside players face when entering the GCC market.
With over 30 years’ experience of working across the telecoms, data centre, managed services and cloud sector across Europe, Gary is an expert, well-regarded stakeholder and influencer in the Cloud and DC marketplace today. Gary was appointed as the Country Manager in 2016 for Keppel Data Centre REIT in Ireland. Keppel DC REIT is the first data centre real estate investment trust (DC REIT) to be listed in Asia with facilities spanning across APAC and Europe. Gary has held numerous Senior Management positions in TeleCity and SunGard Availability Services and sits as a serving member of Host in Irelands Executive Council. Gary holds a MSc in Facilities and Workplace Management from London Metropolitan University.
